Woman killed by niece’s husband over extramarital affair in Odisha

Puri: In a tragic incident, a youth killed the sister of his mother-in-law over his wife’s extra-marital affair at Delang Bazaar in Puri district in broad daylight today.

The deceased has been identified as Jahaja Mallick of Rench village under Delang block.

Sources said Jahaja’s niece Manju had married to one Bunu of the same village a few years ago. Unhappy over his husband’s behavior, Manju developed love relationship with another youth and later left Bunu to stay with her paramour in a rented house at Sakhigopal. When Bunu sought help of Manju’s aunt in this regard, the latter did not cooperate and supported Manju’s illicit relationship instead.

Angry over this, Bunu stabbed Jahaja to death with a knife in Delang Bazaar at around 12 noon today and fled the spot. Though locals rushed the woman to hospital, doctor declared her dead.
