Woman killed, two others critical as Scorpio vehicle rams into house in Odisha

Khariar: A Scorpio vehicle rammed into a house in Odisha’s Nuapada district killing a woman on the spot and critically injuring her husband and son today. The deceased was identified as Namita Hans (35) from Gadramunda village under Khariar police limits in the district.

Eyewitnesses said a speeding Scorpio vehicle skidded off the road and rammed into the house of Namita killing her on the spot. Her husband, Naresh Hans (45) and three-year-old son Lalita Hans sustained critical injuries in the mishap.

Villagers detained the vehicle and its driver following the incident.

After being informed, the Khariar Police reached Gadramunda village to rescue the driver. However, the cops were detained by the locals as well.

Khariar Additional Tahsildar Tapan Naik along with senior police officials reached the village and held discussions with the agitating villagers.

As per latest reports, the talks were going on and the local administration deployed additional police force to bring the tense situation under control.

The injured are undergoing treatment at Khariar hospital, the report added.
