Woman kills two sons, dies by suicide in Odisha’s Keonjhar

Keonjhar: In a highly shocking incident, a woman allegedly killed her two sons and then died by suicide at Durukulia village under Champua police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Khyanaprabha Nayak and her sons Johnson (4) and Chandan (2).

According to reports, the woman strangled the two children to death while her husband had gone to the farmland. She later ended her life by hanging herself.

The woman’s six-year-old daughter Tapaswini returned from school and knocked on the door. As there was no response, she informed it to the neighbours.

Suspecting foul play, some locals went to the roof of the house and removed few tiles. They were shocked to see the two children lying dead while the woman’s body was found hanging.

On being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the bodies for post-mortem and started investigation.

The reason behind the extreme step of the woman was yet to be ascertained. A pall of gloom descended on the village after the incident.
