Woman kingpin of sex racket among six held in Odisha’s Sambalpur

Sambalpur: The police today busted a sex racket running at a house in Dhanupali area in Sambalpur district and arrested six persons including a woman for their alleged involvement.

The sex racket was running at the house located behind the Mathapali Veterinary Services Centre under Dhanupali police limits. Police sources said the racket was operating at the house as per the directive of the woman, Tapaswini Bhoi, who is the owner of the place.

Acting on reliable information, police raided the house and rescued three young women aged between 20-22 years. The sources added the young women are residents of Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh districts.

During the search several incriminating items were seized from the house.

Also, three motorcycles, two scooters and four mobile phones were seized from the spot.

A police official said Tapaswini, who is considered as the mastermind behind the sex racket, has been running flesh trade at the house over one year.

After registering a case under Human Trafficking Act 1958 and Section 370 of IPC, police are investigating the matter.
