Woman Maoist killed in encounter with Odisha police

A woman cadre Maoist has been killed in an encounter with the police in a hideout in the Niyamagiri forests in Odisha’s Kalahandi district today.

According to reports, the cadre Maoist was killed during exchange of fire between the Maoists and the police in an operation by the police in a location in the Niyamgiri hills coming within the range of Bijepur police outpost under Lanjigarh police station.

Police have destroyed two Maoists camps and have recovered one INSAS rifle, one SLR rifle and two rifles during the operation, reports added.

The killed Maoist was a member of the Bansadhara-Ghumsar-Nagabali division of the outlawed CPI (Maoist), reports said.

The operation against the rebels was led by Kalahandi SP Brijesh Kumar Rai, reports added.
