Woman medico commits suicide by jumping before train in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A woman medical practitioner today allegedly committed suicide after jumping before a running train in Odisha’s Chatrapur.

As per reports, the deceased identified as Dr Archana Dash jumped before the tracks this morning near Chatrapur in Ganjam district due to marital discord.

Archana was married to Dr Anjan Dash five years ago who works as a Cardiac Anesthesiologist at a private hospital in Gajapati Nagar area here.

Sources said that the couple was at odds owing which the woman was staying at her parent’s place.

“Recently, my daughter had received a notice from Bhubaneswar Family Court. The allegations leveled against her were all made-up. She was under duress post receiving the notice. Besides, her in-laws had been torturing my daughter since long,” Raghunath Dash, father of the deceased alleged.

Archana’s mutilated body was recovered from the tracks this morning by the Government Railway Police, Chatrapur. The body was sent for post-mortem.

“We have recovered the body and it has been sent for post-mortem. Further investigation is on into the case,” Sukanta Bhoi, GRP IIC said.
