Woman, minor son killed as truck hits scooter in Odisha’s Balasore

Bhubaneswar: A woman and her minor son were killed in a mishap on the National Highway-16 in Odisha’s Balasore district today.

The deceased have been identified as Usha Pati, wife of Laxminarayan Pati of Chhanapur village under Balasore Industrial Area police station, and their 11-year-old son Shibansh.

The incident took place while Usha along with her son Shibansh was travelling to Dumuda on a scooter to meet her parents in the afternoon.

A speeding truck ran over Usha and her son after hitting their scooter from the rear near Nuagaon Square under Remuna block. The mother-son duo died on the spot.

On being informed, Balasore Industrial Area police reached the spot and recovered the bodies before sending them to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for postmortem.
