Buguda: A woman gave poison late yesterday night to her two and half-year-old daughter and later consumed poison to end her life over a family feud at Pochalundi village under Balipadar outpost and Buguda police limits in Ganjam district.
According to a senior police official, the baby died today on the way while being rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital (MKCGMCH) in Berhampur in critical condition and the woman died while undergoing treatment at the government-run health facility. The woman was identified as 23-year-old Arati Bisoyi, the wife of Krushna Bisoyi from Badadanda Sahi of the village.

Krushna runs a bread factory in Cuttack and stays in the city. Arati was staying in the village along with her widowed mother-in-law. Krushna had recently come to Pochalundi village. He and Arati had to go to Cuttack together along with the kid early today morning.
However, the woman took the ultimate step after she had an altercation with Krushna.
Krushna had borrowed money to run his business and was in a financial crunch. The couple often indulged in a scuffle over the debt, outpost in-charge Samir Kumar Behera said.
Police have registered a U/d case (No-12/2023) in this connection and launched a probe.
