Woman ‘raped’ in car in Odisha’s Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: In a shocking incident, a woman was allegedly raped in a car in Jayapatna of Kalahandi district on October 5. But the matter came to light today after the rape victim filed a police complaint alleging rape by one Susant Naik.

As per the complaint, the woman, who was on her way to Jayapatna, reached Bhawanipatna in a bus from Bhubaneswar at around 5.30 am on October 5. When the bus halted at Bhawanipatna bus stand for a brief period, she got down to go to the toilet. By the time the woman came back, she found that the bus had left the bus stand.

In the meantime, Susant reached the bus stand in a car and offered the woman a lift. When she got into the youth’s car and travelled a few kilometers, he raped her in the vehicle at a lonely place, the complainant alleged. Then the accused took the woman to his house and raped there as well. The youth also threatened the victim to make her private photos viral if she discloses about the incident to anyone.

Based on the complaint, police took the youth into its custody and questioning him about the matter.
