Woman RI arrested by Odisha Vigilance over taking bribe for report of deceased minor boy

Balasore: The Odisha Vigilance today arrested Dolly Sethy, Revenue Inspector (RI), Baincha RI Circle in Balasore district for allegedly taking bribe for submitting field enquiry report of a deceased minor boy.

According to reports, the official had demanded Rs 10,000 from the complainant in order to submit field enquiry report of his 3-year-old son, who had drowned in a village pond in April, this year.

The report was needed for sanction of death compensation of Rs 4 lakh.

Acting on a complaint lodged by him, the sleuths of the anti-corruption agency laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while she was accepting the amount from the complainant.

The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sethy and seized by the Vigilance.

After the arrest, simultaneous searches were conducted at two locations related to Sethy.

A case has been registered by the agency while further investigation was underway.
