Woman trampled to death by elephant in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Koida: A woman was reportedly trampled to death by a wild elephant at Kusumdihi village under Koida forest range in Odisha’s Sundargarh district today.

The deceased woman has been identified as Itwari Bhadra of Pundupokhari Sahi at Kusumdihi village.

According to reports, a herd of elephants entered the village at around 3 am in search of food. The villagers tried to disperse the elephants. While Itwari was running out of her house, a tusker dragged her with his trunk and trampled her to death.

On receiving information, a forest department team reached the site and sent the body to Koida CHC for post-mortem.
