Woman trampled to death by tusker in Odisha village

Athagarh: A woman was allegedly trampled to death by a tusker at Achalkote village under Athgarh Forest Division in Odisha’s Cuttack district today.

The deceased woman has been identified as Niasa Rout, a resident of Achalkote village under Tigiria police limits.

According to reports, a wild elephant attacked the woman while she was going to farmland to pluck vegetables in the morning. She died on the spot.

The incident sparked tension among villagers as the forest officials were yet to reach the site.
