Woman trampled to death by wild elephant in Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: In an unfortunate incident, a 60-year-old woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Julang village under Tumusingha police limits in Dhenkanal district today.

The deceased has been identified as Dulana, wife of one Gumani Biswal of the village.

Source said the elderly woman confronted with the elephant when she had gone outside for defecation at around 6 AM. After being attacked by the pachyderm, the woman screamed for help. Hearing her scream, a group of locals rushed to  the spot and managed to drive away the animal.

Though the  locals immediately rushed the injured woman to district-headquarters hospital (DHH) here, doctors declared her dead.
