Woman’s body recovered from sack found floating in a river ghat in Odisha
The body has been seized for postmortem and the exact cause of death will be revealed after the reports arrive
Basta: In a shocking incident, police recovered a decomposed body of a woman in a sack from Subarnarekha river in Basta tehsil of Balasore district in Odisha today. While the identity of the woman has not been ascertained yet, it is suspected that she was murdered after which her body was stuffed into a sack and thrown into the water body to avoid suspicion. Sources said locals spotted a sack floating in the river at Benapur-Baruni ghat on Saturday morning and informed police.
On getting information, outpost in-charge of Amarda Road Sandeep Kumar Kujur reached the spot and recovered the sack on opening which cops found the decomposed body of the woman. The body has been seized for postmortem and the exact cause of death will be revealed after the reports arrive. Further investigation is underway, police informed.
