Bhadrak: Tension ran high at a private nursing home at Motel Chhak in Odisha's Bhadrak district last night following the death of a woman patient allegedly due to medical negligence.

The deceased, identified as Swarnalata Mohapatra of Jajpur, was undergoing treatment at the hospital while an operation was carried out last night, during which she died.

Kin of the woman alleged that negligence on the part of the concerned doctor led to her death. However, the nursing home authorities have rubbished the allegation saying that the woman died due to cardiac arrest during the operation.

As tension prevailed, police reached the spot and took stock of the situation, following which normalcy was restored.
