Woman’s throat slit after being picked up from toilet in Odisha’s Puri

Konark: A middle-aged woman was attacked with a sharp weapon and her throat was slit after she was picked up by a miscreant from a toilet located in the backyard of her house in Sankhua village under Gop police limits in Puri district, today evening.

The injured has been identified as Pinki Behera, the wife of Pratap Behera from Sankhua village.

According to a police source, the fatal mishap took place when the victim woman had gone to the backyard of her house in the evening to attend the call of nature. She was taken to a secluded place near the toilet and was attacked with a sharp weapon and she sustained grievous injuries.

The miscreant fled from the spot soon after committing the crime.

Pinki was rescued by some locals and was initially admitted to the community health centre (CHC) in Gop. She was later shifted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Puri town as her condition deteriorated.

The condition of the injured woman is critical now, a doctor treating her expressed.

On being informed, Gop police reached the spot and launched a probe.
