World Animal Day is observed annually on October 4 to raise awareness and improve the living conditions of animals.
World Animal Day was first organized in 1925 in Berlin, Germany by German writer and activist Heinrich Zimmermann. In 1931, Zimmermann proposed to make the day universally recognized at the International Animal Protection Congress in Florence, Italy.
The theme for World Animal Day 2022 is “A Shared Planet“.
