Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Cuttack, Feb 10:

One Prabir Pradhan, a human rights activist today filed a public interest litigation(PIL) in the Orissa High Court seeking investigation by the CBI in the notorious Dhalasamanta brothers (D-brothers) case.

High Court of Odisha

The matter is likely to be taken up by the High Court tomorrow for hearing.

The petitioner has contended that since names of influential persons, political biggies have surfaced for their involvement with D-brothers and firearms used by defense personnel have been seized from their possession, Odisha police doesn’t have the necessary logistics and means to conduct a probe of such dimension hence the case needs to be probed by the CBI.

Pradhan has further contended that since D-brothers were involved in huge monetary transactions and large quantity of cash has been seized from their possession, it is beyond the scope of state police to conduct a proper and impartial investigation.

In a related development, the SDJM court here today completed the hearing on the plea of the Commissionerate Police to allow it to conduct polygraph test on the Dhalasamanta brothers.

However, the court has kept its verdict reserved in the matter.

The Commissionerate Police had yesterday moved the SDJM court to allow it to conduct lie detector test on the D-brothers.
