YATS: 20 students from Odisha to visit ISRO

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today flagged off the exposure visit of winners of the 12th edition of Tata Steel Young Astronomer Talent Search (YATS) to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

The group comprising 20 students will go on an exposure visit to Space Applications Centre, Ahmedabad, one of the premier facilities of ISRO, to get a first-hand experience of space science in action.

The CM also launched the 13th edition of YATS. The theme for YATS-2019 is ‘Unravelling the wonders of the universe’.

The format of the competition is as follows:
– Open Quiz Competition on astronomy (Eligibility: Classes VI-X)
– Essay Competition with a section containing objective questions on astronomy (Eligibility: Classes IX-X)

Top two essay entries will be selected from each district and winners will be invited to the grand finale to be held in Bhubaneswar on December 12-13, this year. Top 20 winners will be felicitated and later taken on an exposure visit to ISRO.
