Yellow alert for thunderstorm with lightning in Odisha districts during next 24 hours

Bhubaneswar: With north-westerly winds prevailing over Odisha at the lower level, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over some districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted today.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Maximum temperatures observed marked fall at one or two places over the districts of South Interior Odisha, appreciable fall at a few places over the districts of South Interior Odisha, marked rise at a few places over the districts of North Interior Odisha, appreciable rise at a few places over the districts of North Interior Odisha and in one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly below normal at most places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciably below normal at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha, below normal at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, appreciably above normal at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, above normal at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”

Temperature forecast: No large change in the Maximum (day) temperature during the next three days and a gradual rise by 3°C to 4°C during next subsequent three days at many places over the districts of Odisha.

The highest maximum temperature of 39.2°C was recorded at Paralakhemundi and the lowest minimum temperature of 19.0°C was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.

Light rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, and Koraput.

For Thursday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 11.04.2024 to 0830 hrs IST of 12.04.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nuapada, and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
