Yellow alert: Heat Wave condition very likely in these Odisha districts on May 19 & 20

Bhubaneswar: With prevalent cyclonic circulation over south Bihar and its neighbourhood, Heat Wave condition is very likely to occur at one or two places over eight districts of Odisha on May 19 and May 20, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar forecasted today.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Maximum temperatures observed marked rise at one or two places over the districts of South Interior Odisha, appreciable rise at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were appreciably below normal at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha, below normal at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha, above normal at a few places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”

Temperature forecast: A gradual rise in the Maximum (day) temperature by 2°C to 4°C in subsequent three to five days at many places over the districts of Odisha.

The highest maximum temperature of 42.2°C was recorded yesterday at Nuapada. The lowest minimum temperature of 21.0°C was recorded at Nayagarh in the plains of Odisha.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of North Odisha.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH and heavy rainfall are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamal.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Subarnapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, and Angul.

For Friday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 17.05.2024to 0830 hrs IST of 18.05.2024)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha, North Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
