Yellow alert: Heat wave conditions very likely to continue in these Odisha districts till June 2

Bhubaneswar: Despite the onset of Southwest Monsoon over Kerala today, heat wave conditions are very likely to continue in some districts of Odisha till June 2, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of South Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep area and Kerala, some parts of Karnataka, some more parts of Tamil Nadu, Southwest & Central Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Northeast Bay of Bengal and Assam and Meghalaya and some parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during next 2-3 days. The trough now runs from the cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh to west Bangladesh across southeast Uttar Pradesh, south Bihar, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim at 0.9 km above mean sea level.”

The highest maximum (day) temperature of 46.3°C was recorded yesterday at Bolangir and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 22.6°C was recorded at Boudh in the plains of Odisha.

Temperature Forecast: No large change in the Maximum temperature during the next three days and fall by 2°C to 3°C thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Bargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Koraput, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Orange Warning: (Be Prepared)-

Heat wave to severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Subarnapur, Boudh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Kandhamal.

Yellow Warning: (Be Updated)-

Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Malkangiri, Keonjhar, Khurda, Gajapati, and Ganjam.

Warm night condition is very likely to prevail over the districts of Kalahandi, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Keonjhar.

Hot and humid weather condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.

Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput, Sundargarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, and Gajapati.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of South Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Subarnapur, Boudh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Sambalpur, Bargarh, and Sundargarh.

Warm night condition is very likely to prevail over the districts of Kalahandi, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Keonjhar.
