Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over several districts of Odisha and hailstorms are likely to occur at one or two places over some districts of the State during next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted today.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Maximum temperatures observed marked fall at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, appreciable fall at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and North Interior Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were markedly above normal at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha, appreciably above normal at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha, above normal at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”

Temperature forecast: The Maximum (day) temperature is likely to be above normal by 3°C to 5°C over some districts of Odisha during next three to four days. People are to take precautionary measures while going outside during the day hours between 11.00 AM and 3.00 PM, the IMD centre advised.

The highest maximum temperature of 45.0°C was recorded yesterday at Talcher. The lowest minimum temperature of 23.5°C was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.
