Bhubaneswar: With cyclonic circulation prevailing over coastal Andhra Pradesh and its neighbourhood, thunderstorm, lightning, and heat wave conditions are likely in several Odisha districts on June 2, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted and issued Yellow Warning.
In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through 13°N/60°E, 12°N/65°E, 11°N/70°E, Amini, Kannur, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, 8.5°N/80°E, 13°N/84°E, 16°N/87°E, 18.5N/89°E, 21°N/90°E, 23°N/89.5°E and Islampur. Conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of the South Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep area and Kerala, some parts of Karnataka and Rayalaseema, some more parts of Tamil Nadu and Southwest Bay of Bengal during next 2 to 3 days. The trough from northwest Uttar Pradesh to west Bangladesh now runs from West Uttar Pradesh to west Assam across southeast Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.”
The highest maximum temperature of 46.5°C was recorded yesterday at Titilagarh. The lowest minimum temperature of 23.3°C was recorded at Rourkela in the plains of Odisha.
Temperature Forecast: Gradual fall in Maximum (day) temperature by 2°C to 3°C during the next three days and no large change thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha.
