Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over several districts of Odisha and heat wave is very likely to occur at one or two places over some districts of the State during the next 24 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre forecasted today.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “Maximum temperatures observed appreciable fall at one or two places over the districts of North Odisha, appreciable rise at a few places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha, at one or two places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha and no large change at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha. They were appreciably above normal at a few places over the districts of Odisha, above normal at a few places over the districts of Odisha and normal at elsewhere over the districts of Odisha.”

Temperature forecast: No large change in the maximum (day) temperature during next two days and a fall by 3°C to 5°C thereafter at many places over the district of Odisha. People are to take precautionary measures while going outside during the day hours between 11.00 AM and 3.00 PM, the IMD regional centre advised.

The highest maximum temperature of 44.6°C was recorded yesterday at Boudh. The lowest minimum temperature of 20.4°C was recorded at Jharsuguda in the plains of Odisha.
