Bhubaneswar: With favourable conditions for further advancement of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Odisha, India Meteorological Department today forecasted thunderstorm with lightning and heavy rainfall at one or two places over several districts of Odisha during next 24 hours.
In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD said, “Yesterday’s cyclonic circulation over interior Odisha now seen over interior Odisha adjoining Chhattisgarh between 1.5 & 7.6 km above mean sea level. The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through 20.5°N/60°E, 20.5°N/63°E, 20.5°N/70°E, Navsari, Jalgaon, Mandla, Pendra Road, Jharsuguda, Balasore, Haldia, Pakur, Sahibganj and Raxaul.”
An east-west trough from northwest Uttar Pradesh to northeast Bay of Bengal across Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal, and extends up to 0.9 km above mean sea level, the IMD informed.
The highest maximum temperature of 38.9°C was recorded yesterday at Paralakhemundi. The lowest minimum (night) temperature of 21.6°C was recorded at Angul in the plains of Odisha.
