Bhubaneswar: With the Southwest Monsoon further advancing into some more parts of Odisha, India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre in Bhubaneswar today forecasted that thunderstorm with lightning likely to prevail at one or two places over some districts of Odisha during next three days and heavy rainfall thereafter. IMD issued Yellow Warning in these districts for next 5 days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD mentioned, “The Northern Limit of Monsoon continues to pass through 20.5°N/60°E, 20.5°N/63°E, 20.5°N/70°E, Navsari, Jalgaon, Amravati, Chandrapur, Bijapur, Sukma, Malkangiri, Vizianagaram, 19.5°N/88°E, 21.5°N/89.5°E, 23°N/89.5°E and Islampur. Conditions are quite favourable for further advancement of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Northwest Bay of Bengal, and parts of Gangetic West Bengal, remaining parts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal and parts of Bihar during next four days.”

The highest maximum (day) temperature of 43.0°C was recorded yesterday at Nuapada and the lowest minimum (night) temperature of 23.9°C was recorded at Malkangiri in the plains of Odisha.

Temperature Forecast: No large change in the Maximum (day) temperature during next three days and a fall by 2°C to 4°C thereafter at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
