Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rain to pound Odisha for next 5 days

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional centre today issued Yellow Warning for several districts across the state till September 5 in view of a low pressure likely to be formed over north and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours.

The MeT centre issued Yellow Warning indicating heavy rain likely for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal till 8.30 AM tomorrow.

From 8.30 AM, September 1 till 8.30 AM September 2, the MeT centre issued heavy to very heavy rainfall alert for Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts. Besides, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj, Puri and Nayagarh.

From 8.30 AM, September 2 till 8.30 AM September 3, the weathermen issued Orange Warning indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall likely for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur,  Kalahandi, Gajapati and Rayagada districts.

Besides, Yellow Warning has been issued for Kandhamal, Puri, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khordha, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Sambalpur and Mayurbhanj districts.

From 8.30 AM, September 3 till 8.30 AM September 4, Yellow Warning (heavy to very heavy rainfall) has been issued for Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur and Keonjhar districts. Besides, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur in districts of Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Bolangir, Sonepur, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh and Boudh districts.

From 8.30 AM, September 4 till 8.30 AM September 5, Yellow Warning has been issued for Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack districts.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea along and off south Odisha coast and westcentral adjoining north Bay of Bengal on September 2 and 3.
