Yellow Warning: IMD forecasts thunderstorm with lightning in 22 Odisha districts on September 25

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevalent monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation, thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over 22 districts of Odisha during the next 24 hours. India Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued Yellow Warning for next two days.

In its mid-day bulletin, the IMD regional centre mentioned, “A cyclonic circulation is likely to form over north Andaman Sea and neighbourhood on 29th September. Under its influence a Low Pressure Area is likely to form over north Andaman Sea and adjoining Eastcentral Bay of Bengal during subsequent 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to move west-northwestwards with possibility of gradual intensification Conditions are becoming favourable for withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from parts of West Rajasthan during next 24 hours.”

Light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Odisha. The highest maximum temperature of 34.9oC was recorded at Chandbali and the lowest minimum temperature of 22.0oC was recorded at Phulbani in the plains of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Nuapada.

For Monday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 26.09.2023)

Yellow Warning (Be Updated)- Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Bargarh.
