Young couple consumes poison in Odisha’s Jharsuguda; man dies

Jharsuguda: A young couple allegedly consumed poison for unknown reason at Marakuta village under Sadar police limits in Jharsuguda district.

While the man died, the woman was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.

The deceased man has been identified as Gobardhan Oram (30), a resident of Ubuda village under Lakhanpur Block in Jharsuguda district.

According to reports, the incident took place on Friday morning. The police received information in the evening.

The body was found lying in the bushes near Marakuta village. Till last report came in, the body was yet to be recovered.

Source said that the family members of the deceased reached the spot. The police and magistrate recorded the statement of the woman, who is currently undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Jharsuguda.

The police said that the body could not be recovered due to late night. The probe will be initiated into the incident to ascertain the reason for which the young couple consumed poison to end their lives.
