Young couple end life in Odisha, suicide note recovered

Jatni: A young couple was found hanging in separate rooms of a house here on Tuesday. Police recovered a handwritten suicide note from the spot.

The deceased were identified as Asish Kumar Swain (18) and Mita Barik (17). The bodies were found hanging from a window and ceiling fan in two separate rooms of a house at Bachharapatna Khasamal Colony under Jatni municipality area.

The family feud over mobile phone is suspected to be the prime reason behind the suicide, the police sources said.

Although, no case was registered till filing the report, the matter is under investigation to know whether it was a suicide or murder.

The incident created panic among locals in the area.

According to reports, Asish Swain, the son of Abhiram Swain, had married to Mita Barik of Pipili area at a temple a month ago. His sister Imagine Swain, who works at Hero showroom in Jatni, found the bodies hanging at house. She informed the Jatni police about it.

Reports said that Asish’s father Abhiram Swain used to stay in Puri. After returning from work, Imagine first spotted Mita hanging from window by a cloth. Later, she found her brother Asish hanging from a ceiling fan by a plastic rope at another room.
