Anandapur: A girl accidentally got electrocuted while preparing to perform Chanda Puja rituals on the occasion of Kumar Purnima after she came in contact with a live wire at Shailang village under Ghasipura police limits in Keonjhar district, today.
The deceased was identified as Rasmita Jena, the daughter of Sailendra from the village.
“Rasmita had made all arrangements for the Puja in her house along with her friends. Unfortunately, she touched a live wire leading to her untimely death. She collapsed on the ground after getting the electrical shock and could not be saved,” a friend of the deceased girl expressed.
Rasmita’s family rescued and rushed her to sub-divisional hospital (SDH) in Anandapur. However, doctors at the government-run health facility declared her ‘brought dead’.
On being informed, a team of police reached the hospital and launched a probe, which is underway. Police have registered an unnatural death (U/d) case in this connection.
A pall of gloom descended on the village after news of Rasmita’s sad demise spread.
