Young woman dies of snakebite in Odisha’s Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur: A young woman died of a snake bite in Majhiguda village under Papadahandi block of Nabarangpur district today. The deceased was identified as Belamati Jani (25) of Badaliguda village under Medana gram panchayat.

As per reports, Belamati along with her family members visited Majhiguda village to work as labourers in agriculture fields. After finishing their work, she and her family members stayed at the house of her uncle in Majhiguda in night.

While sleeping at her uncle’s house, a venomous snake bit Belamati on her back at around 2 am. She immediately informed her family members who took her in an ambulance to the Papadahandi Community Health Centre

Family members said the young woman died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

After registering an unnatural death case, police started investigating into the matter.
