Young woman found brutally murdered in Odisha’s Nayagarh

A young woman was found brutally murdered in a paddy field near Bijipur under Itamati police limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district today.

Local sources said the deceased identified as Manini Pradhan was found in the paddy field in a pool of blood with her throat slit with a sharp instrument.

Manini who had gone out of her home yesterday night to attend nature’s call had not returned to her home, sources added.

Her hair clip, a torch, and a knife were found near her body in the paddy field. She was a student of Plus II Arts, police sources said.

While the reason behind her murder is yet to be ascertained police have seized the body for autopsy and are investigating the matter.

“According to her mother Manini had left her home to attend nature’s call at around 8 PM and had not returned. In the morning today, locals found her body lying in a pool of blood in the paddy field. Her father has lodged a complaint and we are investigating the matter,” said Jayaram Satpathy, SDPO Nayagarh.
