Young woman found dead in her house in Odisha’s Dhenkanal; family alleges murder

Kamakhyanagar: A young woman aged around 20 years was found dead inside a closed room of her house at Lokanathpur village under Kamakhyanagar police limits in Dhenkanal district, today. However, her family alleged that she might have been killed by somebody for reasons not known yet.

The deceased woman was identified as Lakshmi Khuntia, who belonged to the village.

According to a source, victim Lakshmi was sleeping alone in the room and no one else from her family was present in the house except her. She was spotted dead under mysterious circumstances. She was perhaps murdered late last night before she was spotted the next morning, the source added.

On being informed, a team of Kamakhyanagar police reached the spot and seized the body. Police have registered an unnatural death case in this connection and launched a probe, which is underway.

“A door of the staircase leading to the rooftop was seen opened. We are suspecting that someone fled from the spot through the door soon after committing the crime,” some residents expressed.

“The cause of death can be ascertained only after a post-mortem report comes in,” a senior cop of Kamakhyanagar PS said.
