Youth abducted in Odisha capital rescued within hours

Bhubaneswar: A youth was allegedly abducted by some unidentified miscreants in Chandaka area of Odisha capital here today.

The abducted youth has been identified as Ashis Ranjan Behera of Daruthenga village on the outskirts of the capital city.

The incident took place while Ashis was talking to his friend near Chandaka police station in the evening.

“Some unidentified persons abduct Ashis in a car. However, his friend managed to escape the abductors,” said a local.

A complaint in this regard was lodged with the Chandaka police.

Taking the incident seriously, Chandaka police immediately launched an operation to rescue Ashis Ranjan.

“We have rescued Ashis Ranjan from Patrapada area of the city within a few hours of the abduction. However, the abductors managed to escape. The incident could be the fallout of a past enmity. We are now questioning Ashis Ranjan to elicit detailed information regarding the abductors and their motive,” said a police officer.
