Youth allegedly killed in de-addiction centre in Odisha’s Bhadrak; probe on

Bhadrak: A youth was found dead today under mysterious circumstances with injuries on his body in a de-addiction centre under Dhamnagar police limits in Bhadrak district. However, the deceased’s family alleged that the youth has been killed for reasons not known yet.

The deceased was identified as Kedarnath Parida, who belonged to Haripur village of Jajpur district.

According to a source, Kedarnath’s family had previously brought him to the de-addiction centre on January 4. Subsequently, when the family members came to the centre, the victim youth was shown by some staff of the de-addiction facility through CCTV but was not allowed to meet them.

The family was informed yesterday that Kedarnath had fallen sick and died in Bhadrak hospital. After they reached the health facility, they noticed some injury marks on his body, a member stated.

On being informed, Dhamnagar police reached the hospital and seized the body. Police have launched a detailed probe to ascertain the cause of death. “We are awaiting a post-mortem report,” a cop said.

Views of the de-addiction centre owner and staff in this regard could not be obtained.
