Youth allegedly killed over illegal drugs trade in Bhubaneswar, 2 more critical

Bhubaneswar: A youth was allegedly killed and two others were grievously injured yesterday night as fallout of rivalry over illegal drugs trade at Narayani slum of Unit-8 locality in Bhubaneswar.

The deceased has been identified as P Subrat Rao aka Chandu. He was a drug addict and had recently returned from a de-addiction centre after undergoing treatment.

A source said that the victim along with two others was chased. Later, he was brutally murdered by a woman, her husband and three accomplices, who are said to drug peddlers.

The accused trio is involved in trading of narcotics and was active in the slum.

The two injured were rescued and rushed to Capital Hospital in Unit-6 for treatment.

Meanwhile, Chandu’s family alleged that he was killed as he opposed the illegal trade in the slum. The youth was previously providing information to Commissionerate Police about the activities of some local peddlers in the State Capital, a family member of the youth claimed.

Commissionerate Police have registered a case launched a detailed probe in this connection.
