Puri: A youth was allegedly killed this evening by three bike-borne miscreants by being attacked at Jatia Baba Chhak under Kumbharpada police limits in Puri town.

The deceased has been identified as Ladu Nayak, who was working in Puri Municipality as a cleaning worker. Ladu belonged to Gopabandhu Colony of Narendrakona in the district.

According to a source, Ladu was sitting at a roadside tiffin centre when he was attacked at around 5.30 pm. Three bike-borne miscreants came near the victim and all of a sudden attacked him with pincers and iron rods leading to his untimely death, after indulging in an altercation with the youth.

Ladu succumbed to his injuries on the spot and was rescued by locals from a pool of blood.

The three accused fled from the spot by riding a motorcycle soon after committing the crime.

“Three persons namely Sachi Nayak, Sundar Nayak and Ganga Nayak are involved in the crime. The reason why they attacked my uncle is not known to me,” deceased Ladu’s nephew said.

On being informed by some locals, Kumbharpada police reached the spot and seized Ladu’s body. Police have sent the body to hospital for post-mortem and launched a probe into the alleged murder.

It is suspected that the alleged killing is the fallout of past enmity.
