Youth arrested for impregnating minor girl in Odisha

Koraput: Police today arrested a youth of Champaguda village under Koraput Sadar police limits in the district and forwarded him to court for allegedly impregnating a minor girl on the pretext of marrying her.

Police said the accused identified as Laichhan Suna (22) had been maintaining physical relationship with the minor girl, a school student, on the assurance of marrying her.

It is also alleged that the accused made the girl abort her pregnancy for three times. But when the girl approached Laichhan to marry her, the latter refused to do so. Later, the girl filed a written complaint at Koraput Sadar police station seeking justice.

The police registered a case and arrested Laichhan following medication examination of both the accused and rape survivor, said ASI Natbar Nanda.
