Youth arrested for rumour mongering about COVID-19 in Odisha

Rourkela:  As Odisha police continues to keep its vigil on rumour mongering about COVID-19 on social media platforms, a youth was arrested by Jhirpani police in Sundergarh district today on charges of spreading misinformation on the deadly virus.

Acting on information, the Jhirpani police swung into action and began an investigation in this connection. The cops later arrested the youth, a resident of Jhirpani area.

“Till date, six persons have been arrested in five  rumour mongering cases in Rourkela ,” informed Rourkela SP  K Siva Subramani at a press meet today.

In last 24 hours, Odisha police has registered three cases for spreading misinformation about coronavirus on social media.
