Youth beaten to death by elder brother in Odisha’s Bhadrak; accused held

Bhadrak: A youth with psychiatric disorder was allegedly beaten to death by elder brother with an iron rod in Odisha’s Bhadrak district today. The deceased, identified as Amarendra Tripathy was beaten to death by elder brother Satyabrata Tripathy in Sadeipada village under Basudevpur panchayat of Bhadrak district following an argument.

Though the exact cause is yet to be established, family dispute is suspected to be the reason behind the murder.

A villager said, ”When we came here after hearing commotion, we found both the brothers were engaged in a fight. The elder brother was hitting Amarendra with an iron rod on his head and shoulders. Amarendra was having some psychiatric issues.”

Another neighbour said the duo used to engage in fight. But today there was an intense fight between the two brothers. Later Amarendra was found to be dead near his house.

On being informed police reached the spot and detained the elder brother for questioning. Investigation into the matter is on.
