Youth beaten to death in Odisha capital; family smells foul play   

Bhubaneswar: A youth was beaten to death by locals of Bahadalpur village under Khandagiri police station here following a verbal duel last evening. However, police have arrested two persons in this connection.

The deceased has been identified as Jyotiranjan Baliarsingh (25) alias Titan.

Sources said Titan was hanging out with his two friends near railway level crossing at around 8 PM yesterday. Another youth, who was returning to his home with his mother on a bike, had a war of words with the trio over a trivial issue. Later, the youth called up the villagers, who reached the spot to settle the issue.

After a while, the two friends of Titan apologized and left the spot. But, Titan continued arguing with the villagers, following which they started beating Titan killing him on the spot.

On receiving information, both Khandagiri and Airfield police reached the spot and started investigation into the matter. The cops also detained the two friends of the deceased and are interrogating them in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, Titan’s family members suspect involvement of his two friends behind this incident. However, police officials were not available to comment on the matter.
