Youth beaten to death over lent money in Odisha’s Boudh; accused brothers abscond

Boudh: A youth was allegedly beaten to death late last night by two brothers after the victim asked the accused duo to repay an amount of money that he previously lent to the latter at Sampoch village under Boudh police limits in this district.

The deceased was identified as Satya Narayan Swain, who belonged to Sampoch village. The accused duo was identified as Nimain Thati and his brother Duryodhan.

Nimain and Duryodhan fled from the spot soon after comitting the crime and are still absconding.

According to a source, Nimain and Duryodhan had earlier borrowed some money from Satya Narayan at a time of urgent need. The accused duo was in an inebriated condition and was returning to the village on the intervening night when Satya Narayan asked them to refund his money.

Allegedly, the accused had an altercation with the victim youth. Things took an ugly turn when in a fit of rage, the brother duo attacked Satya Narayan with a baton leading to his untimely death.

On being informed, Boudh police reached the spot and seized the body. Police have registered a case in this connection and initiated a probe, which is underway. The victim youth’s body was sent to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Boudh town for post-mortem.
