Youth caught in compromising position, killed by lover’s father: Odisha police

Baripada: The mystery surrounding the alleged murder of 21-year-old college student of Jaipur village under Gopabandhunagar block in Mayurbhanj district has been unfolded with lover of the deceased making startling revelations before police.

Worth mentioning, the blood-stained body of Subhasis Barik was found near the house of one Nabin Acharya (48) at Baulasasan village on Sunday morning. Following the incident, Udala police had registered a case and begun investigation into the incident.

After finding that the deceased was in love relationship with his classmate of Jaipur village, police had brought all members of her family under the purview of investigation into the incident. Following a marathon interrogation, the girl made some shocking revelations.

At a press meet, SDPO Sarthak Ray informed that on Saturday night, the girl had reportedly called the youth and asked him to come to her house. Midway, Subhasis bought some snacks for the girl before reaching her house. Later at around 12 am, the girl’s father Nabin reached the house in inebriated condition.

Finding the love couple in a compromising position, Nabin got furious and attacked him with an iron rod. The accused later hit the youth’s private part with the iron rod leaving him severely injured. Though Subhasis  managed to escape the spot, he succumbed to injuries midway.

Yesterday, a police team reached the house of  the accused and seized the iron rod and a blood-stained Gamucha (towel) from the spot. Besides, the Udala arrested Nabin and produced him before the court, said Udala police station IIC Niraj Kumar Samal.
