Youth Cong workers gherao RDC office demanding jobs

Youth Congress (YC) workers today gheraoed the Revenue Divisional Commissioner’s office here in Odisha’s millennium city demanding jobs for the unemployed youth and resorted to stone pelting injuring at least five policemen.

Youth Congress workers, who were around a thousand in number, had a scuffle with the police while they attempted to break through the barricade around the RDC office to submit a memorandum to the Governor. Following this, some YC workers pelted stones at the police in which some policemen were injured.

“Unemployment problem is very acute. People found the occasion to express their anger. When Youth Congress gave the call, youth in thousands seized the opportunity as a platform to express their feelings. Police is to blame for whatever little violence that took place today,” said Md Mokim president Cuttack City Congress.

Among the injured are ADCP Cuttack Sudarshan Sethi and a few policemen.

“More than one thousand people were there in the rally. Some of them turned violent and pelted stones and eggs on us. Four to five of our men are injured. I too have sustained injuries on my left arm. We will conduct an inquiry into who pelted stones and resorted to violence,” said Sudarshan Sethi, ADCP Cuttack while speaking to reporters.
