Youth critically injured after being shot at in Odisha’s Balasore; past enmity suspected

Sahadevkhunta: A youth was opened fire by unidentified miscreants at Tilebasa of Sobharampur under Sahadevkhunta police limits in Balasore, today. The injured was identified as Vinay Kumar Bihari.

According to a police source, Vinay was shot at in the afternoon when he was passing through Andhari Mangala Thakurani lane in the locality. The youth sustained a bullet injury in his right hand. The injured was brought to a hospital late for treatment after he remained at the spot for quite some time.

The reason why Vinay was brought in late to the hospital has not been ascertained yet.

On being informed, Sahadevkhunta police station IIC Pragyan Mohanty reached the health facility and launched a probe into the incident, which is underway. “It is being suspected that the firing is a fallout of past enmity, which ensued over the collection of extortion money,” IIC Mohanty expressed.

Vinay was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
