Youth dies after being hit by running DMU train in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Betanoti: A youth was killed on the spot after being run over by a moving train today evening near Angaragadia on the Bangiriposi-Rupsa route under Baisinga police limits in Mayurbhanj.

The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Mithun Marandi, the son of Badal Marandi from the village of Ambagadia panchayat in the district.

According to an eyewitness, Mithun suddenly came to the front of a DMU train for reasons not known yet. However, he was run over by the train and succumbed to injuries.

The Loco pilot of the train stopped the DMU following the fatal incident and later informed the railway police in Balasore about it. A team of police reached the spot and seized the body and sent it to a hospital for post-mortem.

Police have launched a probe into the incident, which is underway. “The exact reason behind the youth’s untimely death has not been ascertained yet,” a senior railway official said.

Worth mentioning, on May 1 morning, a bike-borne youth was killed after being hit by a speeding train while the motorcyclist was passing through the railway tracks near Krushnachandrapur station under Betanoti police limits in Mayurbhanj district.
