Youth dies after coming in contact with 132 KV live wire in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

Parjang: A youth was charred to death today as he came in contact with a 132 KV live wire at Basulei village under Parjang police limits in Dhenkanal district.

The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Balaram Rout, son of Raghav Rout who belonged to the Basulei village.

According to a source, Balaram had gone to a nearby forest at around 11.00 am to cut tree branches and bring them for his domesticated goats. Unfortunately, he came in contact with the live wire while cutting the tree branches. He sustained severe burn injuries on his legs, belly, and chest in the incident. The youth immediately collapsed on the ground and died on the spot.

On being informed, Parjang police reached the spot and seized the body. Police have sent the body to a health facility in Parjang for post-mortem and initiated a probe into the death.

A pall of gloom descended on the village after news of Balaram’s untimely demise spread.
