Youth dies, father critical in explosion inside ice-cream factory in Cuttack

Cuttack: In an unfortunate incident, a youth died while his father suffered critical injuries after a gas compressor exploded inside an ice-cream factory near Nrusingha Chhak in Banki today.

The deceased has been identified as Smruti Ranjan Subudhi of Bolgarh police station area in Khordha district.

According to sources, Smruti and his father Sushant Sahu had gone to the ice-cream factory in Banki to repair a gas compressor. However, the compressor exploded inside the factory following which the youth died on the spot. His father, who is in his 40s, suffered critical burn injuries. Sushant was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here.

Meanwhile, Banki police reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident.
